Tragic Twist: Ex-Karnataka DGP Murdered by Wife and Daughter While Having Lunch 2025

Nation in Shock as Former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash Allegedly Killed by Wife and Daughter During Lunch

A horrifying domestic crime has left the nation stunned after former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was allegedly murdered by his wife, Pallavi, with the suspected involvement of their daughter, Kriti. The incident occurred while he was having lunch at their Bengaluru home, prompting widespread disbelief and raising troubling questions about the tragedy within a respected household.

According to police reports, Om Prakash was seated at the dining table with two varieties of fish on his plate when a heated argument erupted between him and his wife. In a sudden act of violence, Pallavi allegedly stabbed him multiple times. His lifeless body was later discovered beside the lunch plate.

Investigators recovered two knives and a broken bottle from the scene, believed to be the weapons used in the attack. Authorities suspect both Pallavi and Kriti played roles in the murder. Following the assault, the two women reportedly wrapped Om Prakash’s body in a bedsheet and locked themselves in a room.

Pallavi later made a call to a senior IPS officer, allegedly confessing to the crime, before contacting the police. Upon arrival, officers found Kriti refusing to come out of the locked room. She was taken into custody after police forcibly opened the door. Mobile phones of the victim and both accused have been seized for examination, and statements have been recorded from three individuals connected to the case.

During initial interrogation, Pallavi claimed she acted in self-defense, alleging that her husband frequently carried a firearm, even during family disputes. She stated that on the day of the incident, he became violent and threatened her again, prompting her to retaliate in fear.

However, this claim appears to contrast with reports from senior police officers who were reportedly aware of Om Prakash’s concerns regarding emotional distress at home. He had allegedly confided in colleagues about enduring psychological abuse and domestic tension.

A post-mortem examination revealed Om Prakash sustained 8–10 stab wounds, primarily in the chest, abdomen, and arms. Approximately half of these were concentrated in the abdominal region, causing fatal blood loss. Blood stains and evidence of a struggle across the dining area suggest the former DGP may have fought for his life for up to 20 minutes before succumbing to his injuries.

Sources say Pallavi waited until after his death to call for help, deepening the sense of horror surrounding the case.

As investigations continue, the incident has sparked widespread public outrage and debate, shining a harsh spotlight on domestic violence and the hidden turmoil that can exist behind closed doors — even in the homes of those who once upheld the law.
