Guwahati Sex Racket Busted: Clients Charged Rs 6,000/Night
A high-end sex racket operating out of a guest house in Guwahati’s Jayanagar area has been busted, exposing a disturbing system where clients were charged as much as Rs 6,000 per night.
The racket came to light after a leaked audio clip of a conversation between a client and a young woman believed to be part of the operation went viral, triggering a police probe that has already led to multiple detentions.
According to sources, several individuals have been picked up for questioning as the police piece together the scope and operations of the racket.
The guest house-Guest House Baptice Inn, from where the trade is believed to have operated, is now under police scrutiny, with digital evidence, including mobile devices and booking records, being examined.
The alleged handler of the racket has been identified by a person with only surname Hazarika.
He is suspected to have orchestrated the network, recruiting young women from various parts of Assam.
The modus operandi involved booking rooms over phone calls, and facilitating client selection by sharing photographs of the women via WhatsApp.
The rates reportedly began at Rs 6,000 per night.
While clients were charged premium amounts, the women allegedly received about Rs 1,000 per customer while the rest was pocketed by the handler.
In some cases, the women were reportedly placed on a fixed monthly payment model, receiving around Rs 18,000 per month for their involvement.
Speaking to the media, police said, “We have picked up a few individuals for interrogation. Necessary action is also being taken against the guest house involved in this racket.”
